Your Path towards Clarity and Calm

Person-centred counselling in Castleford and online

Welcome.

Sometimes people come to counselling because they know exactly what they want help with. Other times, it is much less clear. You might feel stuck, overwhelmed, or as though you have been carrying too much on your own for too long. You may know that something needs to change without quite knowing where to start.

Counselling can offer a space to slow things down, make sense of what is happening, and explore things at your own pace.

I’m sometimes asked why people choose to see a private counsellor. Everybody’s circumstances are different, but there are a few things that can make private counselling helpful.

With NHS talking therapies, there can sometimes be a wait of several weeks or longer before support begins. With private counselling, it may be possible to start much sooner.

You also have more choice about who you work with. You can choose a counsellor based on their approach, personality or areas of experience, and that matters because the relationship you build with your counsellor is an important part of therapy. If I do not feel like the right fit for you, you are still very welcome to get in touch. I know some genuinely excellent counsellors who I would be happy to recommend.

Some free or NHS services also work within a set number of sessions. Private counselling can offer more flexibility, whether you are looking for something relatively short-term or would prefer the freedom of more open-ended work. I have experienced both myself and found value in each.

You do not need to have everything figured out before you reach out. Whether you are dealing with something specific, feeling stuck, carrying more than you feel able to manage alone, or simply wanting somewhere to think and reflect, we can begin with where you are.

There is no pressure and no obligation, just an opportunity to have a non-judgemental conversation, and see whether working together feels right for you.

I work in a person-centred way, which means I won’t tell you what to do or assume I know what is best for you. Instead, I offer a warm, thoughtful and non-judgemental space where we can explore what is happening for you at your own pace. I believe that feeling genuinely heard, understood and accepted can create the conditions for greater self-understanding and meaningful change.
